Hyderabad, Dec. 4The Czech Republic is keen on forging research collaboration with Indian universities and institutes, according to Mr Premysl Sobotka, Chairman of that country’s Senate.

Speaking at a function to mark the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the University of West Bohemia and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here on Tuesday, he said there was huge scope for collaboration in the manufacturing sector.

Mr Josef Prusa, Vice-Chancellor of University of West Bohemia, said there was considerable interest among the education and research institutes in the Czech Republic towards collaboration with Indian counterparts.

“The thrust could be on education, research and cooperation with the industry,” he pointed out. Mr Jiri Zapletal, Chief Executive Officer of Skoda Holding, said both the countries could share the expertise on technology pertaining to the emissions and manufacturing of power plant equipment.

Mr K Rajagopal, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU, said the university was ready to establish good research contacts with the Skoda company and the University of West Bohemia.

The Czech Republic has 26 public and 43 private institutions offering higher education.
