Madurai passport office to open soon

Madurai, Dec 4 The new Regional Passport Office for Madurai near Lotus Tank along Alagarkoil road will start functioning from December 15 and independently attend to all process for issuing passports for people in the nine southern districts under its jurisdiction.

According to the Chief Passport Officer, Mr R. Swaminathan, the districts of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari will be covered by the new office.

All applications will be processed within 30 days, provided the police verification reports are received within 21 days.

Renewal of passports will be completed in 15 days.

Under the tatkal scheme, new passports will be given within 14 days and renewal completed in three days, he added. He inspected the new passport office on Monday.
