Mergers & Acquisitions Nothing wrong in advising 2 airlines simultaneously on merger: Accenture Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 5 Accenture, the global management consulting, technology services and sourcing company, on Wednesday said that there was nothing wrong in simultaneously advising two different domestic airline companies on their proposed merger plans. “We build China-like walls around the teams that are handling the various mergers in the airline sector. Besides there is a lot of difference between the merger of Indian and Air India and Kingfisher and Air Deccan both of which we are associated with. In the case of Air India and Indian there were several legal issues which had to be looked into which was not the case in the Kingfisher and Air Deccan merger. This is not the first instance of Accenture advising two clients in the same field who are going in for a merger. We have done it earlier in the domestic pharmaceutical and FMCG sector,” the Managing Director, Management Consulting and Integrated Markets, Accenture India, Mr Sanjay Jain, said. Late last year Accenture was chosen to draw up a road map for the merger of Air India and Indian, and then it was also picked to bring about the merger of Kingfisher and Air Deccan leading to questions being raised on simultaneously advising two domestic airlines on their proposed merger. New centreMeanwhile, Accenture has opened a management consulting centre of excellence in Gurgaon and has plans to open such centres in Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. “We plan to have these centres up in the next 12 months or so,” said the Group Chief Executive, Management Consulting and Integrated Markets, Mr Mark Foster. The centres are to be staffed with professionals from diverse backgrounds including engineers, economists, analysts and statisticians. More Stories on : Mergers & Acquisitions | Airlines | Consulting
