Strategy Westside to roll out Kidswest nationally Our Bureau Pune, Dec. 6 Spurred by the success of Kidswest, a series of activities for pre-teens piloted in Mumbai since September, Trent, the retail arm of the Tata group, is set for a national rollout of the programme beginning with Westside stores in markets such as Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai. The company is also looking at more tie-ups along the lines of its recent one with Canada-based young fashion brand Groggy and Disney kids wear that created apparel that was both fashionable and affordable. Ms Neeti Chopra, Head of Marketing, Trent, said that the success of programme that gave 8 to 11-year-old children points that could be redeemed for merchandise, had prompted the decision to extend Kidswest to other markets across the country. The activities included workshops on themes such as ‘magic’ and ‘wealth out of waste.’ New initiativesAmongst the new initiatives on the cards are introduction of a new premium range of work wear for women over the next couple of months, and the launch of Disney’s high school musical range of children’s apparel. “Disney is creating exclusive designs only for Westside”, Ms Chopra added. The company currently has 28 Westside stores in 19 cities, and expects to raise this to around 35 by the end of the fiscal, including launching second stores in Pune and Chennai and entering new cities like Rajkot and Faridabad. “The only constraint to achieving the targeted 11 this fiscal are getting deliveries on time,” Ms Chopra said, adding that the company planned to take the number to 60 stores by 2010.
