Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 6 Jubilant Biosys will be developing a small molecule drug candidate to treat a novel metabolic disorders target for the US-based Forest Laboratories Holdings.

The subsidiary of Jubilant Organosys Ltd will receive payments for research, development and commercialisation milestones from its US partner for its drug development work. Forest, which will own the worldwide commercial rights to the drug, will be responsible for pre-clinical and clinical development of the molecule. The two companies announced their collaboration on Thursday.

“This collaboration leverages the innovation capabilities of Jubilant Biosys in pharmaceutical discovery and preclinical development, as well as combining these strengths with Forest Lab to deliver new products with cost effective efficiency that will help patients around the world,” said the company’s management in a statement.
