According to the terms of the deal, the city-based IBS, which develops IT solutions for the travel, transportation and logistics industries, will implement and maintain iPort for the Maldives Port Authority. iPort is currently used to manage three ports under the Sharjah Ports Authority.

iPort will optimise the management of core port and marine operations at the port of Male, the main port in the Maldives, said a company spokesperson. iPort is an integrated port operations management solution, with modules that support the entire range of port operations including cargo and container operations, cargo delivery, yard operations, billing services and so on.

The product will enable the Maldives Port Authority to identify and locate specific cargo, track revenue loss and track various services, the spokesperson added.

Commenting on the deal, Mr Mahdi Imad, Managing Director, Maldives Port Authority, said: “iPort will help us manage our resources optimally while helping us adapt to changing business needs at a time when we are looking to emerge as a prominent port services provider that caters to the needs of national and regional trade.”
