Security RSA set to expand services for data centres V. Rishi Kumar Hyderabad, Dec. 7 RSA, the security division of EMC, which earlier this year acquired the Hyderabad-based Valyd Software, has expanded the services portfolio for data centre security management including hosted services. The company is also poised to expand its hosted Application Service Provider (ASP) services for data centres, particularly banking and financial services industry, telecom, technology sector and eGovernance. The County Manager of RSA, Mr Amuleek Bijral, said that the data centre market and the information security solutions business is poised for significant growth and increasingly banks and financial services industry players are looking to expand their portfolio of Internet-based banking and financial services. This calls for new breed of information security solutions that work in sync with the large databases these companies have but also have effective encrypted retrieval systems. To address this issue, many banks are now looking at hosted model, Mr Bijral said. During his visit to the company’s Hyderabad centre, Mr Bijral told Business Line that large financial services providers such as Bank of America and eTrade and other financial services providers prefer a specialised services provider for each of their business application. In the backdrop of increasing number of financial frauds, most companies now prefer their databases to have file encryption technology, which helps secure the data that resides with them. Valyd has become a key component of this technology which is used by not just BFSI, telecom and eGovernance, but also ITeS and BPO services providers. The information security market is fragmented and estimated at about $2 billion and growing at a rapid pace. This offers immense scope for RSA and its services, particularly in the areas of data centre management and hosted services, Mr Bijral said. More Stories on : Security | Software
