Pune to host wine tasting festival

Pune, Dec. 9

The Pune Gourmet Club (PGC) is hosting a wine tasting festival. Chateau Indage, Sula Vineyards, Vinsura Wines, Vintage Wines, Nira Valley Wines, Renaissance Wines, Century Wines and N D Wines are putting out a range of 40 Indian wines for the peremptory sniff-the-bouquet, roll-on-the-tongue-before-downing rituals. Mr B. Shankarnarayan, the guiding spirit behind the one-year-old PGC, claims it as the first such morning-to-dusk event in the country. He is preparing to welcome 3,000-odd wine-lovers and wannabes (who can book on-line). Each will be handed over a kit comprising a glass, a tasting card and a wine guide . To introduce the concept of pairing of Indian wine with Indian cuisine, four food stalls and a lecture demonstration by chef, Mr Parag Kanhere, are other attractions. —
