Making maiden call

The Transworld Group has launched a brand new vessel on its Straits Bengal service connecting Kolkata/Haldia with Pelapas, Singapore and Port Kelang. The newly-built, MV OEL Blessing, a 760-teu capacity vessel with 19 knots cruising speed, recently made maiden calls at Kolkata/Haldia. The Straits Bengal service was launched in May this year with three vessels, Marc Clipper, Orient Enterprise and Orient Excellence, each of 480-teu capacity. About two months ago, Marc Clipper was replaced by Mare Balticum, a 760-teu vessel. OEL Blessing now replaces Orient Enterprise and Orient Excellence. The service is being offered at a frequency of every five days. OEL Blessing is Transworld Group’s second new vessel operating in the Bay of Bengal; the first one, OEL Singapore, also of 760-teu capacity, was launched on Singapore-Pelapas- Chittagong sector in February last. Two more vessels, OEL Dubai and OEL India, each of 760 teu, are to be launched next year, it is learnt.
