Rs 20 cr for river protection

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 9

The Kerala Government has drawn up projects worth Rs 20 crore for protection of rivers in seven districts, according to the Revenue Minister, Mr K.P. Rajendran. The projects will be implemented in Kannur, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. The most important among the projects is construction of a check dam in Baharatapuzha at Cheruthuruthy at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Another project at Ottappalam in Palakkad district has also been approved under the scheme, the Minister said. - Our Bureau
