Cooperative rice shops mooted

The entire co-operative sector in Kerala will step in to check the steep rise in the prices of rice in the State, the Minister for Co-operation, Mr G. Sudhakaran, has said. The State Cabinet had decided to initiate all measures to ensure distribution of rice to the people at reasonable prices. As part of it, the Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Mr C. Divakaran, had approached the Department of Co-operation to open rice shops across the State in addition to those being opened by the Civil Supplies Corporation. - Our Bureau
