`Connect better with customers'

The age profile of people of the country is fast undergoing change, and to reap demographic dividend it is necessary to reform the education system in the country, according to Ms Shyamala Gopinath, Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India.

A Corporation Bank press release said here on Saturday that she was speaking on the occasion of the Corporate Award ceremony, organised by the bank at Bangalore, to celebrate the silver jubilee of excellence through the employee recognition scheme. She said the RBI was resolved to containing inflation to 4.5 per cent and was striving to bring it down to 3 per cent to facilitate the integration of the Indian economy with the global economy.

She appealed to the banks to connect better to the customers with a blend of technology and traditional values and also improving compliance system.

Mr B. Sambamurthy, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, said the bank has been going beyond the concept of mere ly earning profit, to earning profit with a purpose. - Our Bureau
