Great Lakes’ biz school fest from Dec 14

Chennai, Dec. 10 The Great Lakes Institute of Management has roped in some of the best minds from both academic and corporate institutions in the country, for a showdown of brainpower at its Annual Management Fest, L’Attitude, which will be held on December 14-15, 2007, at the Image Auditorium, Chennai.

According to an official statement, a session titled ‘Power Talk’ on December 14 will feature Mr Shailesh Rao, Managing Director, Google India; Mr Y.V. Reddy, Governor, Reserve Bank of India; and Dr. Thomas Anderson, Associate Dean, Stuart School of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology. They will talk on ‘Resurgent India’ and share their experiences with a gathering of management students and corporate executives.

This will be followed by the ‘CEO Conclave’; the theme this year will be ‘Entrepreneurial Managers — Making Managers Entrepreneurial’. Mr A. Mahendran, Managing Director, Godrej Sara Lee Ltd; Mr N.K. Ranganath, CEO, Grundfos Pumps Ltd; Mr G.R.K. Reddy, Managing Director, Marg Constructions; and Mr Abhaya Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Shasun Chemicals, are expected to participate in the event.

Programmes on December 15 include a video-conference with Mr Sam Pitroda, Chairman, Knowledge Commission of India.

Mr Narayana Murthy, Chairman and Chief Mentor, Infosys, will launch the ‘Centre for Excellence in Infrastructure’, sponsored by Marg Constructions, at the institute. He will also talk on ‘Resurgent India’, which will be followed by a talk by tennis player, Mahesh Bhoopathy, and his wife, Shvetha.

Besides, students from the top B-Schools, including the IlMs and XLRI, will present papers on HR, Finance, Strategy, and Marketing at the event.

Biz quiz athlos

Mr Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramanium will conduct a Business Quiz, Athlos, which will be open to teams from B-Schools as well as corporates, and will carry a total prize money of Rs 55,000.

All the events will be held at the Image Auditorium, MRC Nagar, Chennai. The sessions will start at 9.30 a.m. on both days.
