Retailing Corporate - Alliances & Joint Ventures Gloria Jeans ties up with Citymax for coffee chain Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 10 The US-based coffee retail giant Gloria Jeans Coffees has joined hands with hospitality major Citymax India to launch a chain of coffee houses across the country. Citymax India, which is a part of the Dubai-based global retail giant Landmark Group, will invest around Rs 40 crore to roll out 90 outlets in the next four years. The company will open the first outlet in Mumbai by February next and this will be followed by similar units in New Delhi in June and then in Bangalore. “The organised coffee retail business in India is over Rs 80 crore. Currently, there are 1,200 coffee outlets and that number is set to increase to 2,500 in the next four years. There is a huge potential to grow,” said Mr Ravi Saxena, Managing Director, Citimax India. He said the company plans to promote Gloria Jeans Coffees brand in India through franchising. “Gloria Jeans Coffees will offer a five-star coffee shop experience, but at affordable rates. It will target executives and professionals in the 25-45 year age group,” said Mr Troy Franklin, International Regional General Manager, Gloria Jeans Coffee. The unique selling proposition of the brand would be the use of top quality beans and enhanced service standards, he added.
