INCHOE to focus on sector trends

Mangalore, Dec. 11 The fourth Indian National Conference on Harbour and Ocean Engineering (INCHOE) – jointly organised by the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) – will be conducted at NITK from December 12 to 14.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Prof Sandeep Sancheti, Director of NITK, said INCHOE is designed and conducted with the objective of bringing into focus the latest achievements of academicians, field engineers and users in harbour and ocean engineering.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr M.A. Baskarachar, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, said the conference will cover themes such as hydrodynamics and marine environment; port management and operations; and port engineering, logistics, planning and dredging.

A platform

INCHOE 2007 will provide a platform for discussion on the problems and solutions, and recommend guidelines on critical aspects to planners and decision makers. It will further direct the futuristic approaches and trends in the field of harbour and ocean engineering.

Nearly 150 delegates are expected to participate in the deliberations of the conference and nearly 100 research papers will be presented.

Prof Tad S. Murthy from the University of Ottawa in Canada, will inaugurate the conference, he said. Mr P. Tamilvanan, NMPT Chairman, will speak on the occasion.
