Spanish insurer sets up Indian arm

Mumbai, Dec 11 Madrid-based global insurance company Mapfre Asistencia is entering India through a subsidiary. The Indian subsidiary named, India Assistance, will commence its operations in the country by providing corporations and companies with roadside assistance services. "The company has already laid a nationwide network of service providers with 1,000 service points in 36 cities across the country. By the first quarter of 2008, we will have more than 3,000 vendors and will cover 95 per cent of the country," said Mr Jose Luis Ortiz Castello, General Manager, India Assistance. "In the medium term, it will also offer travel assistance services and further increase its portfolio with other Mapfre Asistencia products," said a company release. - Our Bureau
