Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam, Dec. 12 Physical rubber prices showed a mixed trend on Wednesday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 91 from Rs 92 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi on buyer resistance. Ungraded rubber improved by 50 paise on better demand from the non-tyre sector. Their presence was also felt in RSS 5 and ISNR 20 while latex lost on comparatively low demand. The transactions were dull.

RSS 3 (spot) improved by 80 paise to Rs 96.69 from Rs 95.89 a kg at Bangkok. The January futures for the grade weakened to ¥272.7 (Rs 96.70) from ¥273.3 a kg at TOCOM.

Futures steady

The rubber futures finished almost unchanged on NMCE. The December contract concluded the session at Rs 93.25 (93.30), January at Rs 94.49 (94.34), February at Rs 96 (Rs 95.80) and March at Rs 97.70 (Rs 97.52) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were 1,352 (1,403) tonnes. The January futures finished at Rs 94.16 against Rs 94.73 a kg on MCX. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: Rs 91 (Rs 92); RSS-5: Rs 87.50 (Rs 87.50); ungraded: Rs 85.50 (Rs 85); ISNR 20: Rs 87 (Rs 87) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 60.50 (Rs 61).
