CCEA nod for marketing scheme

New Delhi, Dec 13

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its nod for implementation of “Marketing support and services scheme” during the 11th Plan period 2007-12 with a budget provision of Rs 316.81 crore. The scheme would comprise components of domestic marketing, international marketing and publicity. With the assistance under this scheme, handicrafts artisans would get enhanced opportunities for access to domestic as well as international high end markets and various marketing channels. The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said this scheme would enable the artisan to achieve full-time employment, get better returns on their products besides creating new opportunities for productive employment in rural areas. The scheme would be implemented for a period of five years beginning 2007-08 and up to 2011-12.
