Chennai, Dec. 13 The Chennai chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) in association with Tamil Maiyam (a non-profit organisation) is holding a one-day seminar ‘Tiecon Chennai 2008’ on January 11 at the Chennai Trade Centre.

TiE is a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, established to foster entrepreneurship and nurture entrepreneurs.

According to Mr Gopal Srinivasan, Director, TVS Electronics, one of the Charter Members of TiE, the idea of the seminar is to bring together young entrepreneurs, investment bankers, private equity players, venture capitalists and B-school students to discuss how to choose a venture capitalist, how to attract investment and what a venture capitalist expects from an entrepreneur, apart from other issues.

It also announced the launch of ‘Annual Entrepreneurship awards’ for businesses, businessmen and businesswomen.

The Chennai chapter proposes to recognise six categories as a part of the award process – Extreme Entrepreneur of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year, Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year and Social Entrepreneur of the Year.

This award is open to entrepreneurs who have their business units in Chennai.

An eminent jury consisting of successful professionals from various fields would choose the winners and the awards would be presented on the same day (January 11, 2008), said Mr Srinivasan.

The last date for receiving nomination forms is December 20. Details on the seminar and nomination formalities can be obtained from www.chennai.tie.org.
