Win-win for both: Thulasidas

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 13

Air India’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr V. Thulasidas, told Business Line from Beijing that once the integration is accomplished – the process can take 12-18 months –passengers will be able to travel on the network literally anywhere in the world on one ticket issued by Air India with seamless transfer at most international airports. Whatever loyalty programme points one has can be used on any other member airline.

“These are big advantages for the passengers,” Mr Thulasidas said,

Calling it a “win-win” for Air India and the Star Alliance, he noted that “India is the fastest growing aviation market, and Air India, especially after the merger with Indian Airlines, is the key player in the Indian aviation scene. With the fleet augmentation we are doing now, Air India will be a force to reckon with in international aviation in the years to come. Star Alliance has realised that just as they will add value to us, we will also add value to them.”

“At the end of it, we are going to get a very strong Air India, as a result of the merger and of joining the Star Alliance,” he said.
