CII-AP, Satyam partner for reliability engg training


This is the first time that an engineering services provider is looking at training personnel on reliability engineering for the industry.

Hyderabad, Dec. 14 The Confederation of Indian Industry-Andhra Pradesh and IT services provider Satyam Computer Services have come together to impart training in what they refer to as reliability engineering services.

As a part of this drive, they have organised a two-day Reliability Engineering Workshop with Satyam, as the knowledge partner and Reliasoft as the technology partner.

According to a statement from Satyam, reliability engineering helps meet real-world challenges in designing products and processes.

Increasing competency

The Senior Vice-President, Integrated Engineering Solutions, Satyam, Dr T.S.K. Murthy said, “This is the first time that an engineering services provider is looking at training personnel on reliability engineering for the industry. Focus on reliability engineering is aimed at increasing the competency of the industry. We are looking to train at least 200 over the next few years.”

The Group Director, Systems Reliability Group, ISRO Satellite Centre, Mr T.S. Nanjundaswamy, showcased how reliability and quality assurance plans are developed for space programmes in ISRO.

The Director and Head, CII-Andhra Pradesh, Dr Saugat Mukherjee, explained how CII is playing a role in improving quality standards through Institute of Quality CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre and Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Centre in building competitiveness.

Upgrading ITIs

In Andhra Pradesh, CII is working on the upgradation of 17 ITIs to convert them into centres of excellence. Satyam has entered into tie-ups with the US and Indian universities for certification programmes in reliability.

These training programmes would benefit design, maintenance and testing engineers in product, process design and plant maintenance, while helping practicing engineers adapt practices.
