Retailing It’s a woman’s world at Westside Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 14 Trent Ltd, a part of the Tata group that operates Westside, has opened its first specialty store targeted at women. The company hopes to replicate this model across metros in the country and hopes to roll out at least 10 such stores in the next couple of months. Spread across 4,000 sq ft, Westside Woman has merchandise that complements every aspect of lifestyle. These stores will offer apparel for women including youthwear, footwear and accessories. “The specialty store will act as a one-stop shop that caters to the emerging style requirements. Basically, it will have everything that connotes fashion and is also affordable,” Ms Neeti Chopra, Head, Marketing, Trent Ltd, told newspersons here. On the format, she said, the company had designed the concept keeping in mind the shortage of realty space. “It is not possible for us to open 25,000-30,000 sq ft stores each time. This truncated format can be utilised to enhance our retail presence,” she added. Trent, which has an alliance with real estate major DLF Universal Ltd, said one or more of its brands will anchor the DLF malls across the country with 27 stores. On its future plans, Ms Chopra said the company is looking to scale up its presence from 28 Westside stores to at least 50 by 2010. “The aim is to establish at least one Westside store in almost every city with a population exceeding five lakh,” she said.
