Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam, Dec. 15 Physical rubber prices showed a mixed mood on Saturday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved by 50 paise to Rs 91.50 a kg at Kottayam on weekend covering purchases while the grade was steady at Rs 91 a kg at Kochi. The December contracts expired at Rs 93 (92.86) a kg on NMCE while the January futures concluded the session at Rs 94.46 (94.47), February at Rs 95.90 (95.96) and March at Rs 97.41 (97.63) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes totalled 534 (1,293) tonnes and open interest 7,193 (7,061) tonnes. The outstanding positions were 466 (502) tonnes in December, 3,087 (3,026) tonnes in January, 2,656 (2,573) tonnes in February and 984 (960) tonnes in March. The MCX January futures was at Rs 94.30 (94.41) a kg. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 91.50 (91); RSS-5: 88 (88); ungraded: 86.25 (86); ISNR 20: 87 (87) and latex 60 per cent: 60.50 (60.50).
