Temple of contemplation: The “Upasana-griha” at Santiniketan, built in 1891 by Tagore’s father, Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, for the worship of "The Universal God of All". A visit to Santiniketan on Sunday showed that the “mandir” — wrapped in a metal scaffolding (which is also the case with the Santiniketan building where the poet spent a part of his childhood) — is in tolerably good shape although it is clear that both the structures could do with some expert attention.
