Bilcare Centre of Excellence opened

Pune, Dec 16 The former president of India, Mr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Dr. John L.LaMattina, Senior Vice-President, Pfizer Inc and President, Pfizer Global Research and Development today inaugurated the Bilcare Centre of Excellence in Pune. Talking to presspersons, Mr. Mohan Bhandari, Chairman and Managing Director, Bilcare Ltd said the Global Research Centre of Excellence will have dedicated research and development sections .

He noted that the Centre is also equipped with Asia’s first integrated Flexo printing machine and a state-of-the-art pilot plant, which was inaugurated by Dr. R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India. An investment of $10 million has been utilised for the centre from internal accruals.

Mr. Vinit Mehrotra, CFO, said Bilcare has also launched an anti counterfeit detector based on nanotechnology, which helps in identifying fake drugs. It would be available commercially by June 2008.
