TN price hike for IMFL suppliers

Chennai, Dec. 17 The Tamil Nadu Government has granted a price increase of Rs 80 a case on Indian Made Foreign Liquor. The hike is with effect from December 11, according to information provided by Empee Distilleries Ltd to the stock exchange.
According to company officials, the State Government has hiked the prices for the suppliers for the first time after three years. The industry had been pushing for the hike following the increase in raw material and inputs costs including spirit, bottles, cartons and labour.
There are six suppliers in Tamil Nadu bottling IMFL for supply to the public sector Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Ltd, which is the sole buyer and retailer of alcohol in the State.
The suppliers are Empee Distilleries, Mohan Breweries, Shiva Distilleries, Balaji Distilleries, Southern Agrifurane Industries Ltd and Midas Golden Distilleries Ltd, apart from wine and scotch whisky suppliers.
The hike is across the board covering ordinary brands in the price range of Rs 350-450; medium brands Rs 450-575; and premium brands Rs 575 and more.
