Vinod Rai appointed as CAG

New Delhi, Dec. 17

The Financial Services Secretary, Mr Vinod Rai, has been appointed as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). He is expected to take charge from incumbent CAG, Mr V.N. Kaul during the first week of January 2008. Mr Kaul took over as CAG on March 15, 2002. The tenure of CAG is for period of six years or attaining of the age of sixty five years, whichever is earlier. Mr Kaul would turn sixty-five in the first week of January 2008. Mr Vinod Rai's appointment as CAG would be effective from the date he assumes charge of his office, an official release said. Mr Rai is a 1972 batch Kerala cadre officer of ndian Administrative Service (IAS). Prior to his appointment as Financial Services Secretary, Mr Rai was Additional Secretary in the Banking Division of the Finance Ministry. - Our Bureau
