Fixed tariff

To curb illegal imports: Poppy seeds being displayed in a spices shop in Kochi in Kerala. The Centre has fixed a tariff of $5,398 a tonne for poppy seeds (khus-khus) in an effort to check its illegal imports into the country. This is to check under invoicing and selling of the seeds at $1,500 a tonne when its price in Turkey, a major producer in the world, is between $3,900 and $5,200 a tonne.
