Strategy ACK Media eyeing teen entertainment, education space Our Bureau Bangalore, Dec. 18 ACK Media, which recently acquired the brands Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle, is scouting for a possible acquisition in the online media — in the teen/edutainment space. It is also toying with other formats to popularise its current brands and content. Plans include retailing merchandise such as T-shirts, bags and toys through its 500-odd stores that sell Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics, promoting its online store, and creating licensing and co-production opportunities for film, TV and other media, using its characters and stories. It hopes to leverage content for new digital media such as the Internet, mobile phone and DVDs and VCDs, said Mr Samir Patil, CEO & Co-founder, ACK Media. ACK Media has set up a design studio in Bangalore towards its new plans and initiatives. The company will invest $15-20 million in the next 3-4 years. “We are investing heavily into developing intellectual property and creating brands and super brands out of characters such as Suppandi and Shikari Shambu, which are already popular, through various formats and media, said Mr Patil. The current monthly circulation of both Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle together is 1, 40,000 copies. More Stories on : Strategy | Books | Entertainment & Leisure
