Brands Corporate - Outlook Trane sees scope for energy-efficient systems L.N. Revathy Coimbatore, Dec. 18 Trane Inc, formerly known as American Standard Companies, is strengthening its brand image in the air-conditioning services and solutions space. The company provides energy efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, solutions and services to a wide range of commercial and residential customers. It markets its systems and solutions under two brands — Trane and American Standard. Mr Manoj Mathur, Regional Head for Trane in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka, told Business Line that the company would, within the next few years, come up with complete solutions. According to him, the company registered a higher year-on-year growth compared to the industry average. He however refused to quantify. Trane is aggressively participating in the ‘green building’ movement, he said and claimed it was one of the first four energy services companies to participate in the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), a programme launched by the former US President, Mr Bill Clinton, to reduce greenhouse gas emission in 40 of the world’s largest cities. Mr Mathur said the process has already started with the CCI identifying 6 to 7 buildings each in Delhi and Mumbai. The Commonwealth games in 2010 at Delhi would further open up the market for clean energy and energy- efficient systems. “We are not looking just at volumes,” he said and added that Trane would continue to educate the young generation of architects on energy-efficient systems and global warming. The company is also working with TERI. ‘TERI is coming up with a green coat. We are working with them on a building coat. Energy saving in green buildings is close to 30 per cent,” he said, adding that the savings would however depend on the type of building.
