New Delhi, Dec. 18 In the coming days more corporate honchos could be flying across the globe in their own private jets. The Government has cleared a slew of proposals including those of companies promoted by both Mr Mukesh Ambani and Mr Anil Ambani, the GVK Group and the Jindals to import private aircraft.

The Aircraft Acquisition Committee of the Ministry of Civil Aviation has given a ‘No Objection Certificate’ to the Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Commercial Dealers Private Ltd to import a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), one Global XRS and a Falcon 900 EX Easy aircraft.

Each of these aircraft has long distance capabilities with the BBJ alone being able to fly 5,750 nautical miles with about eight passengers allowing it to fly non-stop between Delhi and Paris. The list price of the aircraft is upwards of $70 million. The Falcon 900EX can fly eight passengers non-stop between Paris and Kolkata or between Tokyo and most Indian airports.

The Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Transport and Travel Private Ltd has been given in-principle approval for importing one Falcon 7X aircraft that can fly 5,950 nautical miles or non-stop between Delhi and London with eight passengers

GVK Aviation Private Ltd has been permitted to import three aircraft including one Global 5000, one Learjet 45 and one Bombardier Challenger 604. The committee also cleared proposals from Jet Airways, Air Deccan, SpiceJet and Kingfisher Airlines to import aircraft.
