Airlines Airlines from Hong Kong allowed to fly to Chennai Our Bureau New Delhi, Dec. 19 Airlines from Hong Kong will soon be able to fly directly to Chennai. The decision to add Chennai to the list of Indian cities to which airlines from Hong Kong can fly was firmed up at the official talks between the two sides which concluded here late on Tuesday. Before the agreement was finalised, airlines from Hong Kong were allowed to operate only to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore. The new agreement allows the airlines from both sides to operate 27 weekly flights in each direction. Indian carriers have not only been allowed to operate 14 of these 27 flights onwards to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver but also pick up passengers from Hong Kong and the US. Similarly, airlines from Hong Kong have been allowed to operate 14 weekly flights from their weekly entitlement of 27 flights onwards to Europe except to the UK. The new agreements permit the carriers from Hong Kong to operate 10 weekly flights to Delhi, six services to Mumbai and 11 services altogether to Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Currently, Cathay Pacific operates regular flights to Delhi and Mumbai while Air India operates to Hong Kong. More Stories on : Airlines
