Ahmedabad, Dec. 20

Aviva Life Insurance, planning to double its sales force next year in western India, will open four new branches in Gujarat in 2008 and enter into bancassurance tie-ups with cooperative banks and others to target new customers.

Last year, Aviva launched 23 new branches, taking the total number to 50 branches covering Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa. It now has plans to double its field force capacity from the current 14,000 financial planning advisors (FPA) in this region, Ms Jayeeta Wagh, Regional Director, told reporters here on Thursday.

Presence

Aviva is also present in over 505 locations through its existing bancassurance partnerships in western India. The company, which opened four new branches in Gujarat this year, will open another four in Surat, Rajkot, Bardoli and Jamnagar next year, she said.

The company is targeting youth between 22 and 30 years of age for expansion of its market. Last year, it collected Rs 3,500 crore as premia and had sold eight lakh policies so far.

Aviva Life Insurance is a joint venture between Dabur and Aviva, with a current paid-up capital of Rs 758 crore.
