Hyderabad, Dec. 21 Senior representatives of particle board and medium density fibre board manufacturing companies have decided to form a joint association to review and represent on issues of common interest to the industry.

The representatives have also decided to rename the existing Particle Board Manufacturers Association as Particle Board and MDF Manufacturers Association.

The members re-elected Mr N. Anil Kumar Reddy, Managing Director of Novopan Industries Ltd, as its President and Mr Shyam Daga, Joint Managing Director of Archidply Industries Ltd as Secretary of the association.

Office-bearers

The Members of the Executive Committee are Mr Rakesh Agarwal, Managing Director, Shirdi Industries Ltd; Mr P. Satyanarayana Raju, Joint Managing Director, Ecoboard Industries Ltd; Mr Shoban Mittal, Director, Greenply Industries Ltd; Mr Manoj Lohia, Director, Merino Panel Products Ltd; Mr Yogesh Arora, Director, Bajaj Eco-Tec Products Ltd; Mr S.A. Naqui, Chief Technical Advisor, Novopan Industries Ltd.

The Association’s meeting noted that their industry is presently growing at 25 to 30 per cent a year and the industry has reached a size of Rs 1,000 crore.

Imports

The industry is heavily dependant on import of plain boards from South-East Asian countries. The recent fall in the value of dollar has severely affected the particle board and MDF realisations.

The members also explained that the steep increase in the prices of melamine and methanol are hurting the industry.
