TN small industries peeved at power cuts

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Dec. 23

Small industries are piqued at irregular power cuts and a sense of neglect to their needs is pervasive.

During a meet with the Press recently, Mr P.T. Krishnamoorthy, President, Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) said, “Despite our willingness to cooperate with the Government in tackling a crisis situation, a clear cut approach is lacking because of which we suffer most in terms of production, productive retension of employees and mounting dues to financial institutions and others. Since the beginning of October, the situation has been worsening. Our representation to the authorities is still to elicit a working response.” Representing Madurai Spinners Association in the meet organised by Maditssia, Mr C.S. Rajendran, demanded uniform power cut across the State or one-time specified power cut daily or a weekly shut down or asking the industries to adopt a specified percentage of cut in their use. “Adoption of any one of these will help spinning mills to plan their activities without much affectation,” he said.
