CII calls for fund for skill development

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Dec. 24

The Government of Andhra Pradesh should create a skill development fund of about Rs 100 crore to create skill sets for different sectors of the industry, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has suggested.

The apex industry body, which submitted its pre-budget memorandum to the State Government here on Monday, also requested it to provide exemption from electricity duty and grid support charges for a period of 15 years, exemption from stamp duty & registration charges, assured water supply at lower cost, plough back of VAT/CST and incentives for investment in environment friendly technologies for mega projects.

Rate cut plea

The memorandum had also recommended reduction of the interest rates on packing credit given to the exporters by banks and a more “progressive” labour laws regime based on improved productivity at all levels.

It also stressed the need for a rail network between existing airport in Begumpet and the upcoming International airport in Shamshabad to bring down the travel time.

The Government should fix up mandatory time limits in which the commercial tax department/excise department should provide the various forms/certificates like C/D forms, E1 forms, it added.

Mr Pradeep Dhobale, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh, submitted the memorandum to the Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah.
