L&T bags Oman contracts worth $79.7 million

Mumbai, Dec. 26 Larsen & Toubro (Oman) has received two contracts totalling $79.71million (Rs 315.20 crore), from Dhofar Power Company and Muscat Electricity Distribution Company for commissioning of electrical sub-stations and other work in Oman.

Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC is a joint venture of Larsen & Toubro Ltd-India and The Zubair Corporation.

Dhofar contract

The contract from Dhofar company, valued at $47.16 million (Rs 186.50 crore), is for strengthening of transmission and distribution systems in the Dhofar region to meet the growth in demand and new loads. It involves construction of new sub-stations, modernisation and expansion of existing network and construction of overhead lines and cable works.

Muscat contract

The Muscat Electricity Distribution Company has placed orders totalling $32.55 million (Rs 128.70 crore) for construction of five 33/11.5kV primary sub-stations and associated cable work at Al Hail North, Azaiba North, Al Mawaleh South, Qurum Heights & Al Amret Area.

Dhofar Power Company and the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company are the major power distribution companies in Oman.

The projects will be executed by the power transmission and distribution sector of L&T- Oman and are to be completed between seven and 16 months, in consultancy with Mott MacDonald & Energoprojekt Entel LLC.

Golf course order

Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC has also secured an order from the Muscat Golf Course worth Rs 433.5 crore. It is for a township development project involving construction of 80 villas and 25 three-storeyed apartments. The project site is near the Al Seeb International Airport and should be completed in 21 months.
