Licence issue: Spice Comm writes to DoT again

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 31 B K Modi-promoted Spice Communications has shot off another letter to the Department of Telecom to immediately issue letters of intent to the company.

The company, which at present offers mobile services in Punjab and Karnataka, had put in its applications for licences across the country in 2006.

“Having applied for the circles in the country way back in August 2006 and based on the unified access licence guidelines that within 30 days of the submission of our application we should have been issued LIs which have not been awarded to us till date.

“Keeping in mind the above policy guidelines, we had organised funds in anticipation of LI issuance within the prescribed time lines,” the letter from Spice said.

GSM spectrum

“Please note that any manipulation of issuance of initial GSM spectrum allocation priority to us through manipulation of any of the intermediate administrative processes would constitute an illegality and also cause irreparable damage and loss to our company,” the company cautioned.
