Fixed Deposits States - Karnataka Banks’ biz in Dakshina Kannada tops Rs 15,600 cr Our Bureau Mangalore, Dec 31 Banks in Dakshina Kannada district reached a business level of Rs 15,688 crore as on September 2007. This was revealed at the district consultative committee meeting for banking development here on Friday. Speaking at the meeting, Mr K.U. Shanbhag, Deputy General Manager of Syndicate Bank, said that 370 branches of various banks in the district achieved this business. The share of deposits in this business was Rs 9,781 crore and advances Rs 5,907 crore. The meeting was informed that banks in the district sanctioned loans to 365 beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana and under Backward Classes and Minorities Development Corporation schemes. Mr K. Praveen Raj Udupa, Assistant General Manager of Nabard, Mangalore, said the bank has been promoting the concept of farmers’ clubs with the assistance of rural banks and branches.
