Hardware States - Maharashtra Pune to have Rs 40-cr hardware IT park “This is a project being done on a co-operative basis and I expect the park would see shape by mid-2009.” R. Savitha Pune, Dec. 31 Pune is in the process of setting up a hardware IT park. Decision has been taken by the D.S. Kulkarni Group, construction company and Computer and Media Dealers Association (CMDA) to set up the park and the formalities would be completed within a month. Mr D.S. Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Group, told Business Line the park would be more like a mall and would be developed on the similar lines of the Hardware Park in Singapore. He noted that the formalities of the mall was still under process, while noting that this had been a long standing demand of the CMDA members to have a separate IT hardware park in the city. He said the park is being set up on a co-operative basis and an investment of Rs 40 crore would be the requirement. “This is a project being done on a co-operative basis and I expect the park would see shape by mid-2009.” The initial setting up would require six months and the infrastructure development another 12 months. Mr Kulkarni said this would have around 350 shops ranging from 350 to 1,000 sq. ft and would cater to the total hardware requirements of the software industry, such as computers, peripherals, etc. He added that the CMDA itself has around 350 members. CMDA Pune has computer dealers, distributors, system Integrators, service providers as members, who control almost 90 per cent of computer hardware business in Pune.
