Medical Institutions & Hospitals States - Andhra Pradesh ESIC plans specialty hospital in Hyderabad Our Bureau Hyderabad, Jan. 1 The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) would be setting up a Zonal Super Specialty Hospital here to cater to the medical needs of its beneficiaries. The proposed 120-bed hospital, to be set up with Rs 92 crore and a recurring cost of Rs 8 crore, would benefit Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, Mr G. Vinod, Minister for Labour and Employment, Andhra Pradesh Government, told newspersons here on Tuesday. “The Government of India has already accorded necessary sanction for the hospital. This will be helpful to 7.5 lakh insured people and about 50 lakh of their family members,” he said. The hospital would come up in the eight acres of vacant land at the present ESI Hospital premises in Sanathnagar here. “The works are expected to commence in February or March,” Mr Vinod said. In addition to this, the corporation had also approved the upgradation of existing ESI hospitals in Hyderabad (to 500 beds) and Ramachandrapuram (to 100 beds). “The diagnostic centre at Jeedimetla would get a 10-bed retention ward while the dispensary at Chittivasala would be upgraded into a diagnostic centre with 10 emergency beds,” the Minister said. The other dispensaries in Bobbili, Jaggaiahpeta would also be upgraded, he added. New proposalsBesides, 31 new proposals are being considered by ESI which include 12 diagnostic centres, 28 high- tech ambulances, 12 new dispensaries and up gradation of ESI Hospital at Tirupati in view of the rapid industrialisation in and around.
