Hyderabad, Jan. 1 The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has directed the Housing Department to speed up the construction works under various housing programmes in the State.

At a review meeting on INDIRAMMA, Rajiv Gruhakapla and Rajiv Swagruha programmes here, the Chief Minister said additional funds would be given to the department as loan for completion of houses the construction of which had not begun yet.

He had also approved the appointment of banking facilitators for documentation of the bank loans. Alternate lands should be found in districts such as West Godavari and Krishna where there was dearth of land for housing projects, he said.

Under Phase I of INDIRAMMA (both rural and urban), about 13 lakh houses were constructed so far as against the target of 23.43 lakh houses. Under Phase II, 22.92 lakh houses in rural areas and 2.79 lakh in urban areas totalling 25.71 lakh were proposed to be constructed out of which construction work of 21.8 lakh houses was yet to start.

He asked the officials to prepare from ‘Intinta Indiramma’ Programme (for selection of beneficiaries) for the Phase II by the first week of May.

Rajiv Gruhakalpa

Under the Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Dr Reddy had directed the officials to ensure the completion of all houses by April.

The Housing Board had taken up 32,208 houses (flats) and completed 6,192 so far. About 9,376 houses would be ready for occupation by March while remaining 16,640 would be completed by July, according to officials.

Under Rajiv Swagruha, it was targeted to construct 1,74,748 houses throughout the State with an estimated cost of Rs 20.76 crore of which 45,000 houses were being taken up in 2007-08, 75,000 in 2008-09 and 54,748 houses during 2009-10.

The Government had approached the bankers for sponsoring the scheme by sanctioning housing loan to allottees and a notification was being issued for allotment through e-Seva Centres.

For every project, detailed information was being provided to the allottees through brochures.

They would have to pay 25 per cent of the cost within three months in two instalments and the balance money in four instalments at various stages of construction, Ms Shalini Misra, Managing Director, AP Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Ltd said, according to a release.
