Current scenario: Farm workers engaged in a paddy field near Thrissur. Advent of urbanisation has led to large-scale migration of farm labour to urban areas, resulting in shortage of labour and steady increase in cost of manual labour. Mechanisation is the need of the hour with the current system of multi-crop agriculture, less time and shortage of farm hands.
