People Sadhan Dutt of DC-Kuljian dead Our Bureau Kolkata, Jan. 2 Dr Sadhan C. Dutt, noted scientist-entrepreneur and founder-chairman of Development Consultants, a member of the Kuljian Group of Companies, passed away here on Wednesday at Sree Aurobindo Sevakendra, following a brief illness. He was 86 and is survived by his wife Bharati Dutt, and daughter Shanta Ghosh. The West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, was among the dignitaries who visited Dr Dutt’s residence in south Kolkata to pay their last respects to the departed soul. An engineer by profession, Dr Dutt was a pioneer in consulting engineering services in India and helped bring about a technological revolution in the country. He helped to establish the credentials of Indian engineering in various parts of the world through Kuljian Group of companies. The DC-Kuljian Group has significant presence in IT, ITes, real estate development, manufacturing of ash handling systems, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. S.B.Goenka dead: Mr Shew Bhagwan Goenka, industrialist- philanthropist and former president of Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata and closely associated with Goenka College of Commerce, Kolkata, passed away on January 1, 2008 at a city hospital following a brief illness. He was 88, and is survived by his widow, three sons and a daughter. Mr Goenka established Allied Steel Ltd, a mini-steel plant in Raipur, and served as Member of the Advisory Board of CESC. He was also Treasurer of the Akhil Bharatiya Marwari Sammelan, besides being the Trustee of the Churu Charitable Trust. More Stories on : People | Diversified
