New Delhi, Jan. 2 Lite Bite Foods Pvt Ltd, promoted by Mr Amit Burman, Vice-Chairman of FMCG major Dabur India Ltd, on Wednesday announced a strategic joint venture with the father-son team of Jiggs Kalra and Zorawar Kalra to establish a food court and restaurant chain company.

Focus

The quick service restaurant (QSR)-based joint venture will focus on delivering customer satisfaction through high-quality gourmet food at suitable locations and at attractive prices.

“Lite Bite aims to develop into India’s leading food court and chain restaurant firm, comprising both leading international as well as in-house concepts and brands. “QSR is a promising restaurant concept and its combination with our goals is bound to create wider appeal,” said Mr Amit Burman.

The new joint venture, Mr Burman said, will focus on a wide spectrum of consumers through a chain of QSRs, casual dining restaurants, fine dining restaurants and exclusive high-end catering services.

Team of professionals

A team of professionals from leading organisations have been recruited to help realise the expansion plans.

Lite Bites, promoted jointly by Mr Burman, Mr Rohit Aggarwal and Mr Tejpavan Gandhok, plans to invest nearly Rs 200 crore to establish a pan-India network of 200 restaurants.

Mr Jiggs Kalra will provide cuisine and format development expertise to the new joint venture and Mr Zorawar Kalra will be managing ongoing activities of the venture. .

The model has already been adopted by Street Foods of India (SFI), promoted by Mr Kalra and his son in the Delhi-NCR area, for QSRs in the past year. Following the joint venture, Punjab Grill, also promoted by the duo, is going to be revamped into an upmarket casual dining restaurant that focuses on providing top quality food and wines to guests.

“Street Foods of India and Punjab Grill are committed to providing unique and high-quality food products at key locations,” Mr Zorawar Kalra said.
