New Delhi, Jan. 2 Dr Subas Chandra Pani would be joining the Planning Commission as Secretary following approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Currently, he is Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development. Dr Pani would replace Mr R.R. Shah, Member-Secretary, Planning Commission.

Dr D. Subba Rao, existing Finance Secretary and Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance has been given the additional charge as Secretary, Department of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance, with immediate effect.

The ACC has also upgraded several officers in the present posts, according to an official release. Mr M. Madhavan Nambiar, is now the Special Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Mr Ramsevak Bandyoadhyay has been upgraded as Special Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, while Mr K. Mohandas has been elevated as Special Secretary in the Department of Revenue. Mr Raghu Menon has been upgraded as Special Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Civil Aviation.
