Our Correspondent

Madurai, Jan. 3

The proposal for establishing a rubber cluster at Madurai has been given ‘in-principle’ acceptance by Tamil Nadu.

According to Mr P.T. Krishnamurthy, President, Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia), the efforts taken by the association to establish a rubber cluster has become successful and the association has created a special purpose vehicle ‘Madurai Rubber Park Ltd’ for the purpose, with Mr K.R. Gnanasambandan, former President of the Association as the Chairman of the Cluster Panel, and is awaiting certification for commencement of business.

The feasibility study was conducted by ITCOT and the preliminary report forwarded to DC-SSI at New Delhi has gained the green signal. Maditssia and Madurai Rubber Park Ltd would be entering into an MoU for successful implementation of the project, he added.
