Mr A. Raja

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Jan. 4 The Communications and IT Minister, Mr A. Raja, is understood to have met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to give an update on the spectrum allocation policy. The Prime Minister had earlier said that the policy should be mindful of the revenue generation potential for the Government.

DoT officials said that the Government is expecting to earn close to Rs 10,000 crore by bringing in new players on a first come first served basis.

Meanwhile, at least three companies which had applied for new licences, have been asked to furnish more details.

Spice, Stel and Parsvnath have been asked to give more information by DoT. So far, DoT has not issued any letters of intent to the new players owing to legal and political pressures.
