AF-KLM Cargo may withdraw

Is Air France-KLM Cargo, the international cargo carrier, planning to withdraw from India? If the report that is doing the rounds in air cargo sector is to be believed, the withdrawal will come into force from March as the cargo carrier is not making money in the face of stiff competition. The slide in rates, caused by severe competition, is believed to have made things difficult for the carrier which finds it difficult to get enough traffic on the east-bound leg even as it struggles to fill the belly-hold capacity on some of the routes to and from India. AF-KLM Cargo’s services to and from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore are currently maintained with B747-200Fs planes, likely to be replaced by more fuel efficient B777-200LRFs in November. Whether it will reconsider to reintroduce the services around that time is of course another matter.
