Education Money & Banking - Insurance Career Mentor to offer courses for insurance professionals Our Bureau Chennai, Jan. 6 Sensing a business opportunity in providing training for the insurance industry, Chennai-based Career Mentor is close to starting a six-month course that will make the student “job-ready”. The firm, recently set-up by a group of professionals, will not only provide training in “all aspects of insurance industry” but will also tie-up with insurance companies for job placements. The course, to be offered first in Chennai, will start on February 1. In a unique arrangement, the insurance companies will select prospective employees through an aptitude test and give the selected candidates a conditional offer letter, where the formal appointment letter is conditional upon the candidates undergoing the six-month course with Career Mentor. This way, Career Mentor will be able to train candidates addressing the specific needs of the prospective employer. Career Mentor has firmed up such an arrangement with one private sector insurance company and is working with other insurance companies. “In the next two years, the insurance industry will need around one lakh people,” says Ms Subhashini Prakash, partner and Chief Mentor, Career Mentor. Career Mentor’s faculty will consist of people from the insurance industry with hands-on experience. Shortly, Career Mentor will also begin courses in spoken English, personality development and communication skills. The firm is a franchisee of the British Academy for English Language, according to Mr P.V.R. Krishna Rao, partner, Career Mentor. More Stories on : Education | Insurance | Human Resources
